Le Bernardin via George

George is at it some more, and again: almost no vegetables. Five kinds of ocean protein though. Here's what he ate at Le Bernardin last night.
LE BERNARDIN TASTING MENU
($130 per person - $215 with wine pairing per person)

SCALLOPS
Flash Pickled Scallop Slivers: Sea Beans, Cucumber and Pink Radishes

LOBSTER MISO
Poached Lobster in a Lemon Miso Broth, Shiso and Hon Shimeji Mushrooms

SEA URCHIN
Warm Sea Urchin Custard; Shiso Julienne

HALIBUT
Poached Halibut, Sweet and Sour Golden and Red Beets, Citrus and
Extra Virgin Olive Oil Emulsion

BLACK BASS
Masala Spiced Crispy Black Bass; Peking Duck-Green Papaya Salad in
a Rich Ginger-Cardamom Broth

PANNA COTTA
Buttermilk Panna Cotta, Lemon Basil Gelée, Rhubarb Citrus Compote

CHOCOLATE-OLIVE OIL
Flourless Chocolate Cake, Dark Chocolate Ganache,
Toasted Bread, Maldon Sea Salt, Extra Virgin Olive Oil
So is this good food, or a novelty menu? George maintains it was great, which is ultimately all that's important, since it's his $130. But reading this makes me yearn for a chili-mac from the Ideal Hot Dog in Toledo with the (domestic) Beer Pairing. It's not that I can't appreciate the work or creativity in this menu or that George wouldn't like the chili-mac (in fact, I know he would). I just get worn out thinking about the 4-hour fish marathon a meal like this entrails. He'll have to take me when we visit, it's the only way to find out.

After I posted this I wrote to George:

Jonathan: George, what are you eating day-to-day? You can't be going out to eat like this every night, are you?

George: haha....
absolutely not..
no, i prepare home cooked meals most of the nights..
and if we are too tired to cook, we will just boil some chinese dumplings. 10 minutes tops.
i guess i should post more of those meals as well.
