What? I Can't Hear You, I'm Over 20

I read THIS story over at Blogging Baby today. It turns out that there is a very high frequency noise that teenagers can hear, but most people over 20 can not. It was originally used to annoy kids, and cause them to disperse while loitering outside malls and in parking lots. The high pitched, screeching insect like noise was broadcast from boxes mounted on buildings. Brilliant, right? Even more brilliant is the teenager who figured out how to make a high quality recording of this noise and turned it into a ring tone. Now teens all over are using this "secret" ring tone to notify them in class when they receive a text message, un benounced to teacher. Ok, it bad, but kind of stealthily cool.
