Truly dangerous — or decidedly drunk?

This story is so nuts:
Birmingham police are trying to determine whether an intruder was truly dangerous — or decidedly drunk — when he broke into a home last week and passed out on a bed where a 6-year-old boy was asleep.
It continues:

The July 18 incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Ann Street, or two blocks east of Lincoln and Pierce. Ruby said the young boy tiptoed into his parent’s bedroom and whispered, “There’s a man in my room.”

Sure enough, the parents went into the boy’s room and found a man lying on the bed. The mom told detectives the man appeared quite surprised and “obviously intoxicated.”

Ruby said the man claimed he had been invited into the house, a two-story duplex with different families living on the separate floors. After repeating his claim, the man stumbled down the stairs, left through the front door and rode away on a 10-speed bike.

Why is this so crazy? Well, in addition to the fact that a drunk guy climbed a flight of stairs and passed out in some kid's bed, I'm pretty sure that this is the flat that Lauren and I used to rent before we bought our own. I can't think of any other duplexes on that block of Ann Street. I always double-checked the locks though.

Wow - he made it up a flight of stairs by himself and drunk?

That is amazing.

The worst part was, I got a flat shortly thereafter and ended up having to carry that bike 10 blocks until I passed out at the park!

On the way home last night I took a pass down Ann Street, and I didn't see any other duplexes. I think it was definitely our old house.

Whoa! That's freaky...makes me want to get another deadbolt and a chain for our door. The steps at your old place weren't an easy feat in the daylight, let alone in the dark and while under the influence...wow!
