If you haven't been...

Doesn't this look tasty? A blah tomato, raw onions, American cheese, 1/4 of beef and a nice greasy bun somehow meld to create an experience that is far more than the sum of its parts. Maybe it's the bay, maybe it's the tin ceiling, maybe it's just nice to get away for a few days. If you haven't been to Juilleret's, you have a little less than two weeks to get to Harbor Springs and try this cheeseburger. They will be closing on the 15th, after decades of burgers and Thunderclouds.

Read Michael Stern's review on roadfood.com and tell me how a place like this could close after a century, probably to make room for more ridiculous, flimsy, overpriced condominiums. This isn't even my childhood, it just makes me angry on behalf of people like Lauren who've been able to enjoy it for entire lifetimes. How terrible.

I am so upset that Juilleret's is closing, too! It seems bizarre to think of Harbor Springs without it! I definitely made sure to go there a bunch of times this summer. The reason they are closing actually bums me out -- the owners want to retire and nobody in the family wants to take it over. I threw out the suggestion that my family could take it over, but my parents didn't jump on the idea! =)

WHAT!!! AM I THAT OUT OF THE LOOP! THAT IS LIKE KILWINS CLOSING ITS DOORS!
No more olive burgers? Oh the humanity!
Ok, the customer service sucked the last time we were there, resulting in us leaving without a tempting tastey, but the idea of them closing, well, you may as well condemn Harbor to a ghost town. I know that won't happen, of course. The J is a piece of history, the heart and soul of the town. I can't imagine HS without it. See what I get for missing a summer! We should have taken the Troll for at least one bite of burger before they closed. Well, it is only the 11th... We MIGHT make it. Yeah, right. We can barely get out of the house for school in the morning, let alone a trek up north. Reality bites.
