Blueberry Cheesecake
I don't make cheesecake very often, because it really is an undertaking and can often be as expensive as buying one. Still, for the ambitious home cook the cheesecake is an opportunity to shine, an extremely dense example of your regard for other people - sure you could make cheesecake for yourself, but who are we kidding? The reason you make a cheesecake instead of buying one is to knock people over with the delicious effort you expended on their behalf. My personal biggest is a 6-pounder, made for a friend's engagement party. I had to borrow my friend Josh's largest springform pan and had to carefully drive 40 miles to the party, but I made it OK and was a huge success. Everyone should do this at least a couple of times.
