Farmington firm offers phone recycling: Farmington-based Secure Eco Shred, a document destruction and recycling company, is putting a new twist on Boxing Day, the day after Christmas. The company said it would have a truck available at Oakland Mall on Dec. 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for consumers to drop off holiday cards, gift boxes, gift wrap, tissue paper, shipping boxes and old cell phones for recycling. The paper and boxes will be reintroduced into the market as recycled paper products and the cell phones will be used to generate funds for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The service will be offered free. Oakland Mall is at 412 W. 14 Mile Road in Troy. The truck will be in the parking lot between Marshall Field's and J.C. Penney, in front of Steve & Barry's. In addition, SECURE Eco Shred will open its paper processing facility in Farmington for free drop off of holiday recycling and old cell phones the week after Christmas from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The address is 33085 W. I think I live in recycle-mecca. EVERYTHING goes in the recycle bin here - all plastics (ALL), metals, glass, aluminum, paper...the only thing they don't take is styrofoam and corrugated cardboard but there is a separate place that you can take these things.
Now, if we could just find a way to recycle those diapers...ew, maybe not!
