"You can't beat our meat"

My mom just sent me this link to my cousin Joshua's butcher shop, Fleisher's Grass-Fed Meats, "one of the few butcher shops in the nation to specialize solely in pasture-raised and organic meat." This means no force-feeding, no antibiotics, and organic standards in raising the animals. It's humane, y'all.

I have been waiting for Joshua and his wife Jessica to get a web site up, because I really wanted to see specifically what he's selling. It's all stuff I would want to eat myself. The site is still slightly under construction, and there's no online ordering, but what's there is really cool. The beef is fed organic grain almost exclusively (just like on the pampas!), the chickens are free-range, and you can even order Pouisson seasonally, if you can pronounce it. My favorite thing on this site? The phone number is 338-MOOO. Email them and order a t-shirt.

After working in the gourmet foods industry, I have the upmost respect for farmers who take the extra care needed to raise their livestock without the use of hormones and antibiotics. Yes, it's a lot harder for them to care for. but the outcome is incomparable. No hormone fed Beef, Chicken, Pork, you name it is a far superior product and what's even more important, it's not hazardous to your health. Hormones and Antibiotics that are pumped into factory raised livestock is completely unsafe and down the road, we all suffer, from one way or another. I would like to see the government get more stringent on American Farmers and curb the use of these toxins out of today's farming. Go Fleisher's, for the bold step and best of luck!!!
p.s. Poussin is pronounced (Poo-Sawn)... I have a dozen in my fridge just for this weekend... It's grillin' season baby!!!
